Grassfed & Grassfinished

Patience is a central principle of everything we do at Yonderyear Farm, and our approach to raising lamb for your table is no exception. Most commercial meat production prioritizes fast animal growth which sacrifices the nutrition and flavor of the protein you prepare for your family. We don’t believe you should have to compromise. Our approach to raising livestock is governed by patience, attention and respect for our animals, our farm and our customers.

What Makes our Pastured Lamb Great?

We manage sheep in an intensive rotational grazing system to create naturally rich soil for our farm’s foundation and future. Constant movement onto clean, replenished forage keeps grasses at an optimum length for nutrient-dense, tender feed. It also suppresses inedible weeds and allows soil to absorb natural fertilizers because viable grass root systems remain intact, not overgrazed.

Yonderyear Farm lamb is Certified Naturally Grown (CNG). CNG is a grassroots certification program for small farmers that adheres to the highest ideals of the National Organic Program (NOP) which maintains standards through a continuous farmer-to-farmer inspection process. Learn more about CNG standards in their FAQs here.

Hearty Katahdin hair sheep are our choice breed for lamb. Their high-quality protein content is usually 25–26% and provides a high number of amino acids for optimal nutrition in a protein source.

Working with the land by mimicking the natural tendencies of herbivores produces nutritious pastures, rich soil, and healthy animals. Good for them, good for us, good for nature. We think you’ll taste the difference.
